The word “Ara”means path, journey, or way forward.It is designed for newcomers, diaspora, and lifelong learners who want to learn the wisdom and ways of the Māori culture and language. It’s more than vocabulary. ARA helps you build cultural understanding first, then supports language learning through everyday use, reflection, and practice. I found it hard to access the great wisdom in the culture due to the language barrier. This resource was built so that you can start to learn the lessons and practices of the Māori people even before you know the language.All Māori language and cultural content is drawn from trusted public knowledge sources, including established resources and indigenous pronunciation files.
