I wanted to study Art in college, but I was advised to seek a more “practical” way of making a living, so I switched to Biology. I regretted it for years. I had one class that put a spark in my heart and I never forgot it. My instructor told me “wash was my thing” when we were learning pen and ink drawing. After graduating, I couldn’t stop thinking about art. So, I bought a Pelikan Watercolor palette and with that small encouragement from years earlier and not knowing how, I started my watercolor journey. After a time I noticed how much I looked forward to my quite painting sessions. My outlook on life improved as did my mental health. I reembraced the artist I was and this practice became such a regular part of my life I won’t ever be without it. This method has enriched my life in so many wonderful ways for over 30 years. I discovered that I love exploring my inner world, the unknown, and now have a better understanding and acceptance of myself.<style>
