The question is whether it helps someone do the work you actually need. Before paying for a credential, name the role, the task and the evidence you want to see afterward.

Separate credentials from practical training

An exam credential assesses knowledge against a defined standard. A practical course may ask learners to build a workflow or complete a project. Neither label tells you everything about quality. Look at the assessment, prerequisites, source credibility and opportunities to practice.

Pair either route with a real task: draft a customer reply using approved information, check the output against its sources, and explain what still needs a human decision. That gives your team something more useful than attendance alone.

Three options to compare

Google Cloud Generative AI Leader: consider this when your goal is business understanding of generative AI. It is a distinct credential from Cloud Digital Leader, which covers broader cloud knowledge. Read the current exam guide before choosing between them.

Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Fundamentals: check the current AI-901 requirements. Microsoft now describes foundational implementation knowledge, Python and familiarity with Azure. That makes prerequisites an important part of the decision for a nontechnical team.

AWS Certified AI Practitioner: a foundational option for understanding AI concepts and use cases on AWS. Choose it for role and ecosystem fit rather than assuming it is the right level for everyone.

What makes it worth paying for?

Compare the current exam fee for your region, preparation time, any training subscription, retake costs and time away from work. Check whether a credential is requested for the role or whether a demonstrated project would serve your goal better. Provider details were checked on 11 October 2026; confirm the current requirements and checkout price before enrolling.

Skip programs that promise instant expertise, hide their assessment or cannot explain what the learner will be able to do. A recognizable badge can support a pathway, but it cannot replace practice, feedback and sound judgment.

Give the learning somewhere to go

Choose one representative workplace task before enrollment. Save a baseline, agree on quality and verification criteria, and repeat the task after training. Review accuracy, rework and appropriate escalation as well as time.

If your team finishes a certification, what is the very next real task you will have them apply it to? Start there. Then choose the learning that helps them get there.

Compare AI credentials by role, prerequisites, assessment and total cost—then pair the learning with a real workplace task.
